Global Thermal Oxidiser: Global
- Remedi-Cat™ - Datasheet
Application Environment
The remediation of contaminated land often releases organic
vapour contaminants that are discharged from soil vapour
extraction and ground water treatment systems. The resulting
emissions can cause severe problems for operators, neighbouring
communities and the environment.
Remediation companies are generally subject to rigorous
emission control regulations that are enforced by both local
authorities and the Environment Agency. Failure to limit
these emissions can create a nuisance to both residential
and commercial neighbours, prompting complaints that give
rise to regulatory body investigation. Costly fines or an
Enforcement Notice may result, forcing the site operator
to take corrective action before any further work is carried
out. This can result in an extensive delay to the project,
perhaps triggering penalty clauses that are included in the
contract.
Product Aim
The Remedi-Cat™ is designed to provide 99+% destruction
efficiency of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) generated
on site, ensuring regulation compliance whilst preventing
investigation, fines and project delays.
How it Works
The Remedi-Cat™ Catalytic Oxidizer efficiently destroys
VOC’s, drawn by the regenerative system blower or fan
from extraction wells and diluted to the appropriate concentration
using a dilution air valve. The blower emits the contaminated
air into the cold side of the primary heat exchanger where
it is preheated prior to entering the gas burner. Once in
the burner the air achieves oxidising temperature before
entering the catalyst module. An exothermic reaction takes
place as they pass through the catalyst. The clean, VOC free
air which remains hot, passes to the next compartment of
the exchanger and the energy released by the reaction is
used to preheat the incoming air. The de-contaminated air
is then released to the atmosphere.
The Remedi-Cat™’s
low weight and small footprint ensure both ease of mobility
from site to site and
ease of placement where space is premium. The integral regenerative
blower does not require a separate extraction blower and
is therefore compact in design. The reactor has a fully welded,
leak tested stainless steel interior with high-density insulation
allowing for safe, long-term operation. A flow recorder and
temperature recorder provide effective system monitoring,
allowing regulatory records to be easily kept.
The burners are fuelled by either natural gas or propane
to provide greater flexibility. A system control panel reliably
indicates the status of the burner, catalyst and safety circuits.
The system will automatically and safely shut down should
an error occur, the cause being identified on the liquid
crystal display.
