The worlds largest remediation
site controls VOC’s
with a Global unit
Problem
The worlds largest remediation site was once the worlds
busiest airport, Hong Kong's Kai Tak.
When the airport was decommissioned in favour of an alternative
location the government decided to use the site for commercial
and residential development.
The site required an extensive groundwater clean up due
to soil penetration by fuels and chemicals over the years.
A treatment solution that could destroy at least 95% of
the volatile organic compounds was required by the project
consultant. It was imperative that the solution was both
proven and reliable as the project received significant public,
government and media interest.
Solution
The Remedi-Cat™ was selected
as the most appropriate solution after extensive evaluation.
The remediation consultant engineers covered the site with
tarmac and the massive airflow was directed from the 3,000
wells to a single treatment system.
Result
The required understanding of the customers needs and the
installation of the Remedi-Cat™ allowed Kai Tak Airport
to provide a clean and safe environment for future development
